What is the drum unit?

How to replace the compatible Brother DR730 drum unit?

Step 1 - Turn off the machine, leave the machine for at least 10 minutes to cool down.

Step 2 - Open the front cover.

Step 3 - Take out the drum unit and toner cartridge from the machine and put them on a piece of disposable paper or cloth to avoid spill and scatter toner.

Step 4 - Push down the green lock lever and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit.

Step 5 - Unpack a new drum unit.

Step 6 - Put the toner cartridge into the new drum unit until you hear it lock into place. If you put it in properly, the green lock lever will lift automatically.

Step 7 - Reinstall the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly back into the printer. Do not close the front cover yet.

Step 8 - Press and hold down “go” button for 4 seconds until the LEDs light up. Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release “go” button.

How to reset DR730 drum unit?

After replacing the drum unit, if the printer cannot read the new drum unit and the "replace drum" or "drum end soon" error message display on your printer, it indicates that the drum counter needs to be reset.

For HL-L2350DW, HL-L2370DW, HL-L2370DWXL:

Step 1 -Make sure your printer is powered on.

Step 2 -Close the front cover, and the printer will display “Ready”.

Step 3 -Press “OK” and “Up Arrow” at the same time, and the printer will display "Drum".

Step 4 -Press “OK” again, and the printer will display "▼Reset▲Exit".

Step 5 -Press “Down Arrow” , and the printer will display "Accepted"

For DCP-L2550DW, HL-L2390DW, MFC-L2710DW:

Step 1 -Make sure your printer is powered on.

Step 2 -Close the front cover.

Step 3 -Press “OK” and “Up Arrow” at the same time until LCD displays “Reset Menu 1. Drum”.

Step 4 -Press “OK” to select Drum.

Step 5 -Press “Up Arrow” to reset the drum counter, then LCD will display “Drum Accepted”.

For HL-2395DW, MFC-L2730DW, MFC-L2750DW, MFC-L2750DWXL:

Step 1 -Make sure your printer is powered on.

Step 2 -Close the front cover.

Step 3 -Press “×” to clear the error

Step 4 -Press and hold “?” for 5 seconds

Step 5 -Press “Drum”, and then press “Yes”

Step 6 -Press “Home”

How to extend the service life of drum unit?

You can extend the service life of the drum unit and keep it clean by occasionally cleaning the corona wire.

Step 1 - Open the front cover of the machine.

Step 2 - Remove the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly from the machine.

Step 3 - Push down the green lock lever and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit.

Step 4 - Slide the green or blue tab back and forth across the drum unit 6-8 times, then return the tab back to its original position.

Step 5 - Put the toner cartridge firmly into the drum unit until you hear it lock in the place.

Step 6 - Install the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly back into the machine.

Step 7 - Close the front cover of the machine.
